Summary of Duties:

The
Research Technologist in the Sports Science Laboratory (SSL) assists in determining suitable methods for sports science research involving sports gear and equipment; under general supervision leads other staff in investigative scientific procedures on sports gear and equipment using a wide variety of research techniques with project goals both in the lab and in the field; train new staff members on related projects; makes modifications as needed; documents and verifies accuracy of data pertaining to SSL research; and creates reports as requested.

Other duties include maintaining and repairing SSL research equipment and tools; and assisting with SSL operations, lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field of technology OR science, AND one year of research experience equivalent to Research Technologist 1 OR one year of full-time post-Bachelor’s college in an appropriate field of science OR technology; OR equivalent education/experience.

  • Ability to operate testing equipment, machines, and shop tools.
  • Ability and willingness to travel including overnight.
